OUR HISTORY
Jeweler since 1890
SINCE 1890, JEWELRY EXCELLENCE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND CREATION.
VAN DER BAUWEDE GENEVE embodies a unique vision of luxury. A family business passed down from generation to generation, it combines a legacy of exceptional expertise, a love of precious stones, and uncompromising creativity.
The story begins in 1890 with Alexis Van Der Bauwede, a prodigious watchmaker in Bruges at the age of 17. A passionate craftsman, he traveled throughout Flanders to offer his creations to local families, while also regulating the clocks of belfries and churches. In 1904, he opened the first Van Der Bauwede jewelry store in Bruges, laying the foundations for a lineage dedicated to the art of time and stone.
This passion was passed on to Michel, his son, who developed the house in Lille from 1949, then to his heir Pierre VAN DER BAUWEDE, who instilled a new vision anchored in traditional excellence but resolutely turned towards innovation.
Today, building on this legacy, I continue this family adventure. Trained at the Gemological Institute of America in Los Angeles, I manage our design workshop in Geneva and our production workshop in Valenza, Italy, a true capital of jewelry expertise.
This is where our unique, bold and meticulously crafted pieces come to life.
VAN DER BAUWEDE GENEVE is more than a name: it is an independent, free and non-conformist luxury house.
Each creation is conceived as a work of art: a perfect blend of technical precision, jewelry excellence, and artistic inspiration. Whether it's exceptional diamonds, rare stones, or fine watches, our pieces express a strong identity and a unique sensibility.
Inspired by art, architecture, nature, and contemporary trends, our collections combine strength, elegance, and mystery. We push the boundaries to create custom jewelry that conveys emotion and meaning. Pieces that tell a story—yours…
Glamour, aesthetics and audacity guide our approach, each creation is a signature.
Welcome to the world of VAN DER BAUWEDE GENEVA.

MAXENCE
VAN DER BAUWEDE

Originally from Bruges and representing the fourth generation of an illustrious family of jewelers, Maxence van der Bauwede discovered the magic of precious stones and metals at a young age in the family jewelry workshop. Fueled by a creative instinct and guided by an inspired inner voice, he perfected his craft in Paris alongside the finest jewelers of Place Vendôme.
Fascinated by the idea that inspiration is born from providence, he has successfully combined tradition and audacity. Arriving in Geneva in the early 1980s as part of a collaboration with a prestigious Italian jewelry house, he opened his first workshop and worked with famous brands on the Rue du Rhône, working in both fine jewelry and watchmaking.
In the early 1990s, convinced that success lies in the ability to break free from established norms, Maxence van der Bauwede devoted his energy to the internationalization of his VAN DER BAUWEDE brand. Where jewelry often evokes immutable codes and traditions, he chose to follow his instincts by daring to offer original creations, without conforming to any specifications. This rare and audacious creative impulse is fueled by an intuitive sensitivity, making each work a subtle encounter between heritage and modernity.
